Our Surprise for Mom!: a 50th birthday party and an empty guest room

What is Our Surprise for Mom! about?

Act normal is the first instruction the stepdad gets, and the second is to keep his wife out of the house on Saturday while forty guests gather for her party.

Saturday is the mother’s 50th, and her daughter wants a surprise party at the house for 40 people. The stepdad, married to her mother for three years, notes that his stepdaughter has never once asked him for a favour, so he agrees to keep his wife busy. He learns two more things quickly. Aunt Sarah, the mother’s stepsister and silent for four years, has been invited, and the daughter has noticed exactly how he looks at her.

Our Surprise for Mom! turns party logistics into an alibi. Planning gives the pair reasons to whisper, to vanish into the guest room and to explain their odd behaviour as part of the surprise. The daughter is candid: she dislikes parties and volunteered only because it bought her seven days near him, and she even dares him to send her home. He calls her his stepdaughter in his own head, and it does not slow him down.

Episode 1: Forty guests and Aunt Sarah

The episode opens on a warning to act normal, since her mother must not find out. The stepdad sets the scene: Saturday brings his wife's 50th, and the daughter, who has never asked him for a thing in three years, needs his help. The brief is 40 guests at the house, with him responsible for keeping the birthday woman away.

There is a twist in the guest list. Aunt Sarah, the mother's stepsister, has been phoned and is coming, although the two women have not spoken in four years. When the mother asks why they are behaving so strangely, her daughter claims it is all part of the surprise. Alone with his thoughts, the stepdad wonders what he is doing; she tells him she has seen him watching, and names a time and a place: tomorrow, the guest room, while her mother works until six.

Episode 2: Home early from work

The next day in the guest room, she holds up something she has bought for Saturday and wants his opinion: too much? It is a lot, he admits. Part of it, she says, is not for the guests. She confesses she cannot stand parties and took this one on purely for a week of sharing a house with him.

She challenges him to order her back to her flat, and his silence pleases her. That is when her mother's voice reaches them: she is home early and wants to know where they are. The daughter's last line promises a surprise far bigger than anything planned for Saturday.

Can they keep the secret until Saturday's party?

When episode 2 ends, the house is full of risks the daughter created herself. Her mother is back early and asking questions, the party with its 40 guests is still ahead, and Aunt Sarah, silent for four years, is on her way. The stepdad has already failed to send his stepdaughter home. What happens across the rest of the week is the business of the three paid episodes on Candy AI, which this guide leaves untold.
