Our New Babysitter: an hourly rate that runs until morning

What is Our New Babysitter about?

Twenty minutes into the evening, Sofia declares her duties done, reminds Mr Owen that his wife told her to treat the house as her own, and leaves no doubt what she means.

Mr Owen’s wife has arranged a sitter for the evening and gone out, promising to be back at midnight. Sofia, the woman she booked, is brisk, upbeat and extremely efficient, and her boyfriend will not stop ringing. None of it distracts her. Within minutes the house is quiet, the boyfriend has been put off, and she wants Mr Owen to tell her exactly when his wife will walk back through the door.

Our New Babysitter keeps a clock in every scene. Sofia bills by the hour and treats each one as something to be used up, reminding Mr Owen that the meter is running. They each have a partner to deceive, which to her is half the appeal. Then one call from his wife moves the deadline, and an evening that was supposed to end at midnight is suddenly booked until morning.

Episode 1: Twenty minutes and a boyfriend

Our New Babysitter, episode 1 · open to anyone, no login

The job, Sofia announces, took her twenty minutes, because she is very good at it, and his wife was clear that nothing in the house is off limits. Her jokes from there are about as subtle as a wink, and every time Mr Owen tries to sound firm she simply laughs at him for it.

When her phone rings, it is the boyfriend; she tells him babysitting is exhausting, then that she cannot talk. Mr Owen asks if that was him, and she confirms it, adding that he is her boyfriend for now. One more question settles her plans: his wife is due back at midnight. Her rate is hourly, Sofia reminds him, and she would like him to keep her busy.

Episode 2: A night at Jen's

Our New Babysitter, episode 2 · free once you sign up

The meter is running, Sofia reminds him. Mr Owen tries the obvious defence: he has a wife. She counters with her own boyfriend, as if that were the best part. Then the phone goes: his wife, bubbly and clearly enjoying herself, says the night is too much fun to end and she will sleep at Jen's.

Before ringing off she tells him to get on with his work and pay the sitter for the whole night, and they trade a quick love you. Sofia lets slip a theatrical oops, the two exchange formal names, and she does the sums out loud: no wife coming home, and a sitter now paid until morning.

What will Sofia do with the hours until morning?

The free episodes have removed the only deadline the evening had. Midnight no longer matters, Mr Owen's wife has cheerfully told him to pay for a whole night without knowing what that pays for, and Sofia's boyfriend is still somewhere on the end of a phone. What has not been answered is how Mr Owen handles any of it. The night carries on through episodes 3 to 5, 12 tokens apiece on Candy AI, which the guide leaves unrecapped.

Our New Babysitter cast: who is who

The story is seen from the side of Mr Owen, the husband at home for the evening. Sofia, the sitter his wife engaged, is credited on Candy AI as Sofia Fletcher, and the wife and Sofia's boyfriend are heard only on the phone. Every character, Sofia included, is a fictional adult made with AI, and the cast includes no creator twin.

How explicit is Our New Babysitter?

Episodes 1 and 2 are all innuendo, a boyfriend told she cannot talk and a sitter forever asking for more work, and nothing graphic appears. The night goes further in the paid episodes, and the series is meant for adults only.
