What is The New Girl about?
A detour for forgotten books sounds like five minutes' work, until she opens her dorm room, refuses to hand anything over and tells him to sit.
It starts with a collision in a corridor. Neither student knows the building and both are hunting for room 204, so she proposes that they wander it together. Her first real question is whether he is seeing anyone. He names Chloe, whose parting advice was to keep out of trouble on day one, and the new girl decides Chloe is lucky. Minutes later she remembers that her books are back in her dorm, conveniently close.
The New Girl runs on small, plausible excuses that keep growing. Fetching books becomes sitting down, sitting down becomes a lesson that is not on any timetable, and a change of clothes follows. Chloe is out there on campus too, phone in hand, and when her own lecture is cancelled she wants to meet. Telling her the truth would end everything, so he invents a class, and the lie hands the new girl the deadline she wanted.

She bumps into him, apologises and asks the way to room 204. He is new as well and heading there, so they agree to search side by side. Within a few lines she has asked if he is taken; he names Chloe, who is late for her own class and wants him on his best behaviour today. The new girl's comment: lucky girl.
Her books, she suddenly realises, are still in her room, and it is right here: would he help carry them, five minutes at most? Inside she urges him not to be shy. When he suggests grabbing the books and going, she refuses and points him to a seat, because there is something she wants to show him that no lecture covers. He asks whether that means her notes. Sure, she says, if it helps.
Episode 2: Chloe calls at the wrong time

He repeats that he has a girlfriend and cannot go through with this. She notes he has said so already, announces a change of clothes, and wonders if Chloe is the jealous kind. Chloe trusts him, he says, and the new girl finds that cute. Then Chloe's name lights up his phone, and she tells him to pick up.
Chloe's class is off and she suggests meeting by the courtyard. He turns her down with an invented class due to start in ten minutes, and before he can hang up, an angry question comes down the line about who that was. He demands to know why the new girl did that. Her reply turns his excuse into her schedule: ten minutes is all they have, wasting them would be a shame, and Chloe will never hear about it.
Will Chloe find out where he spent those ten minutes?
By the end of the free part, the excuse he gave Chloe has become the new girl's timetable. Chloe has already asked a pointed question about who was with him, her own class is cancelled, and she is expecting to see him. He has said no twice without leaving the room. The New Girl cast: who is who
Everything is seen from the boyfriend's side as his first day unravels. Chloe is his trusting girlfriend, and the new girl is a fellow first-day student whose name never comes up in the free episodes; Candy AI lists her as Emilia Vermont. Each of them is a university student and an AI-generated fictional adult, and there is no creator twin.
